Plumas Lake ADA Expression Swing Fundraiser
Take action in making a difference within our communities, donate here!
The H.O.P.E Foundation is currently working with our local parks and recreation committee to assist with the purchase of an ADA Expression swing for a local park within the Plumas Lake community which the city will install.
In addition to donations made in person and or online, we are holding a fundraising event to assist with this initiative. The event is scheduled for October 1st, 2022 from 2 pm to 7 pm, located at Eufay Wood Spray Park in Plumas Lake, CA 95961.
This event and the ADA Expression Swing has been approved by the Olivehurst Public Utility District (OPUD) Parks & Recreation committee and will be installed by OPUD in the coming months.
Expression swings are ADA-approved swings that encourage adults or elder siblings, to engage with a child through face-to-face swings.
Expression Swing is the first and patented playground swing designed to promote intergenerational play. With Expression Swing, an adult and child interact face-to-face and eye-to-eye. Research tells us when a parent and a child's eyes meet, particularly during play, there is a significant moment of emotional bonding that occurs. Scientists call this "attunement" and it enhances the social, emotional, and cognitive well-being of both children and adults.
Here are a few other highlights:
-
ADA compliance provides an added level of safety
-
Encourage multigenerational play – siblings, grandparents, etc., boost the bond between family members, and additional learning opportunities
-
Stimulate a child’s language development
-
Parents often put children on their laps on swings, which isn’t always the safest option
-
Inclusive element – disabilities and age range
-
Teach valuable social skills as you are face to face and can see one another’s expressions, cooperation/sharing skills
